NINETEEN months doesn’t seem like a big, memorable month, but that doesn’t stop this girl from taking {leaps} towards her goals *not meant to be taken literally*. She has progressed so much…& I didn’t think it was possible, but did that smile get even cuter??

Baby Lemonade is 19 Lbs, 28 In, & has 10 teeth!
This girl surprises me so much, you’d think I’d be expecting it by now, but every little thing she accomplishes always takes my breath away!
Kara is like any of her peers – typically developing or not. There are things that come very easy to her…
She LOVES books and puzzles. Her {fine motor skills} are tweaked every time she turns a page or places a puzzle piece. She is getting so precise because she gets so much practice!

She loves to sign and {communicate}. Just this morning we read a book that focused on colors. The first was “red” and I taught her the sign. We pointed at every item: the “red” fish, the “red” flower, the “red apple” & so on until we moved onto the next color. This afternoon, she picked up a red puzzle piece and I said “You got the red one, do you remember how to say red?”
My jaw dropped when she signed “red” back to me. I was not expecting it in the least!!! However, I shouldn’t have been be surprised – she learns so quickly! Now, identifying the color red is a whole other skill & we’re working on that…stay tuned for another PROUD mom post 🙂
She loves to observe and learn. This is where her {personality} really shines. Right now, our favorite thing to do together is dance like Moana and we’ll do a sort of hula movement with our arms and hands like Moana does in the movie. She will mimic anything while adding her own little flair to it – I’m not going to lie, this makes me very nervous for her teenage years, eep!
One of her favorite games this month is to go back & forth identifying ourselves. She’ll put her hand on her chest and I’ll say “Kara”, she’ll then put her hand on my chest and I’ll say “Mama”. Then she breaks out a big, accomplished smile and she’ll do it over and over and over and over… One night I was in my home office working and I heard Jacob in the other room: “Kara” “Dada” “Kara” “Dada” “Kara” “Dada” It made me smile for so many reasons!
Of course, there is always going to be something she’s struggling with & what doesn’t come easy is anything gross motor (think, crawling, walking, big muscle movements) so its a pretty big deal that she’s been on the move lately!
This month she showed more {motivation} than ever before. She’s inching around the house like it’s no one’s business! If she goes missing, I can usually find her in the kitchen waving to her reflection in the dishwasher door 🙂

Also, something very NEW is that yesterday for the first time she army CRAWLED to her potty! Twice! She had to go! I literally cried because I was so proud. Taking the slow route with {potty training} is really paying off with her. She’s at the point where she will tell me 3-4 times a day that she has to go. I bet I change maybe 4 very small wet diapers a day and a dirty one every other day. I am just so impressed with her. Plus, there are no words to describe how cute this picture is…

This book, The Potty Book For Girls, is super cute with its illustrations & sing-songy rhythm. Kara asks for it almost as soon as her cheeks hit the seat!
A couple months ago, we hit a {picky-eating} phase where the only things she’d eat were black beans and pasta noodles with no sauce. We struggled with this for a while, but finally turned a corner lately!
We started following this guideline: as parents we decide when and what she eats, as the child she decides if and how much. It didn’t take too many skipped meals before she started eating what was put in front of her!
Her favorite foods now are bananas and (believe it or not) cauliflower rice. She’ll still inhale pasta and black beans, but she’s on a MUCH more balanced diet now. Phew!
Her favorite movie is Moana.
Her favorite songs to sing are If You’re Happy & You Know It & Itsy Bitsy Spider.
Her favorite animal is a “moo cow”.
Her favorite books are her Touch & Feel Animal books.
Her favorite snacks are goldfish, rice crackers, and yogurt.
Her favorite past times are puzzles, practicing sign language, and dancing.

This girl brings SO MUCH JOY into our lives. She brings a lot of other things too, but we won’t talk too much about her level of sassiness. She makes me excited for each day!
