World Down Syndrome Day, 2021

Today is World Down Syndrome Day, March 21st. This time five years ago, I was just learning that day of celebration was even a thing. And at that I wasn’t understanding how it was to be celebrated, I felt so stressed & uneducated.

This time five years ago I was pregnant with our baby girl who was to be born with Down syndrome. What a ride it has been! If you’re finding this blog through a #RandomActofKindess, THANK YOU for taking the time to look us up. It shows that you want to learn more, do better & be supportive of those with disabilities.

Different is not less. It’s just…different.

To be very honest, I am extremely unprepared this year. It happens to be a very hectic time in our lives as a family & World Down Syndrome Day snuck up on me. However, I did my very best. I put this post together, spread the word to my co-workers through my annual #WDSD email & created some cards for random acts of kindness all within a span of a couple hours! I feel that it shows the true dedication of a special needs mom. If I’ve learned one thing from welcoming someone with Down syndrome in my life, its that you don’t mess with a special needs parent. There is nothing fiercer than the love of a mother or father who is advocating for their child.

So, on this World Down Syndrome Day, I ask you to check out some of my favorite pages linked below & I encourage you to reach out with any questions. I am truly an open book. You can follow our story by subscribing to this blog or clicking ‘follow’ on & .

If nothing else, please pass on a random act of kindness in the name of Down syndrome. I hope you learn something 🙂
